 EXPLORING KALLAR KAHAR 

Kallar kahar is in salt range of Chakwal district. Kallar Kahar is the most popular tourist place. Its population has expanded due to the construction of Lahore-Islamabad motorway. It is well known for its huge hills, its stunning lakes and large number of peacocks there. A museum was also built in Kalar Kahar recently with remarkable antiques on display. 





HISTORY OF KALLAR KAHAR 


Many ancient civilizations from human history were based in the Potohar region. Many traces of ancient populations were also discovered. According to some human statements it has also been discovered that dinosaurs also lived there.  


LOCATION OF KALLAR KAHAR 


Kallar Kahar is located almost 25km (about 15.53 mi) to the east of Chakwal. Due to the Lahore-Islamabad motorway it is easy to reach Kallar Kahar. It is 1.5 hours away from Islamabad and 4 hours away from Lahore.

 

WEATHER OF KALLAR KAHAR 


Temperature of Kallar Kahar vary in both seasons' summers and winters. In summer the temperature rises to 45 degrees Celsius, while in winter the temperature falls to 5 degrees Celsius. So, it is too hot in summers and too cold in winters.

KALLAR KAHAR MUSEUM 


The museum has a different collection of objects that provides the inside into the historical background of Kallar Kahar. 

The museum consists of three galleries, the first gallery is dedicated to the Indus valley and Gandhara civilization. When you walk in you can see very lovely displays of ancients of civilizations. The coin collection of museum is also very good and all were displayed, and these coins were used in the Mughal era. There are well-crafted Buddhist statues were also displayed. 

The second gallery displays a sizeable fossil of ancient plants and animals. You may see the teeth and bones of ancient animals fragmented there.  

The third gallery displays different items swords of Mughal emperors, antient musicals instruments that are used by Mughals and Sikhs. Many other statues there attract the visitor's attention. 


KALLAR KAHAR LAKE 


Kallar Kahar Lake, surrounds an area of 8 km squares which is surrounded by Kallar Kahar mountains. Pedal boating, motor boating and fishing are some of the most important activities there. If you want to enjoy it well then you must visit Kallar Kahar lake during sunset because at this time mountains provides an eye charming view as the sun is behind them. 





TAKHT-I-BABRI 


Takht-I-Babri is well known because the Mughal king Babar visited Kallar Kahar region in1519 AD and he stayed there. To address his soldiers Babar ordered a limestone boulder which is later known as Takht-I-Babri.  




MOLAT FORT 


Molat Fort is one of the most famous and ancient forts of Pakistan. It is 12 km (about 7.46 mi) away from Kallar Kahar and 40km (about 24.85 mi) away from Chakwal city. It was constructed in the 12th century on the order of the Janjua Emperor. 



PLACES TO STAY IN KALLAR KAHAR  


The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) recently built many resorts to boost the tourism in Kallar Kahar like TDCP Lake View Resort which gives a very beautiful view of the whole lake. 

There are many restaurants also there whose tastes and dishes are amazing.
